Back on Track to 100 Miles!

I had tremendous mental strength while pursuing my goal of a 50 mile Ultra. I finished the PCT 50 in 2008, but my mind/body said to me “What the hell are you doing??” I lost any desire to run seriously for three months.

I got back into running slowly and in 2009 ran my usual local races. Carlsbad marathon, the San Dieguito half, and other short fun runs. I did decide to run another Ultra, and signed up for the Noble Canyon 50k. That race deserves an entry all of its own!

I’ll cut a boring post short. I slowly got my mojo back, but still had trouble seeing how I could step up to the kind of training it would take to complete a 100 mile race.

Finally in 2010 I decided to run more trails, and that helped me to get enthusiastic again about running. I also conquered some nagging injuries and ran two tough 50ks within a month of each other.

I started running 20 miles or more every Saturday morning. I signed up for Noble Canyon again in September, Lost Boys 50 mile in October, and have decided on a 140 mile Sea to Sea adventure run in November!

It is time to make the jump to a new training level. I’m back! I will run and finish a 100 mile event in 2011.
